In this innovative arena, practitioners and researchers discussed how to contribute to the much-needed change. The event discussed how Green Deal measures can work on the ground for different actors (communities, cooperatives, companies, etc.). In addition, creative methods were used to examine regional differences in the transition phase. The focus was on six strategic priorities of the ‘Green Deal’: energy, circular economy, renovation, mobility, food, and biodiversity.

Carinthia University of Applied Sciences as a SHARED GREEN DEAL partner

The results of the ‘Green Deal Arena’ event will feed into the Horizon 2020 project ‘SHARED GREEN DEAL’, which aims to change social practices and behaviours of public and private organisations, communities, and individuals.

To this end, social science experiments are being conducted on the six priority Green Deal topics (clean energy, circular economy, efficient renovation, sustainable mobility, sustainable food and biodiversity conservation). The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences is one of 22 partner institutions involved in this EU project and is part of the Biodiversity Stream, which will explore cultural values related to biodiversity.

Following the event at the ‘Green Deal Arena’, the entire consortium of this EU project also met in Belgium's capital to work together on the further planning of the social science experiments. Selina Straßer from the CUAS UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Management of Conservation Areas met her project team in person and is looking forward to the next steps of the ‘SHARED GREEN DEAL’.
