In September 2025, the second field week of the BestNature Erasmus+ project was held in Austria, bringing together students from five universities across Italy, Austria, and Germany. The event provided students with invaluable hands-on experience in biodiversity monitoring within the Kalkalpen and Gesäuse National Parks. During the field week, professors and researchers conducted a series of practical workshops covering a wide range of topics, including vegetation monitoring, acoustic and camera trap monitoring, river biotic monitoring, forest structure assessment with QField, dendroecology, abiotic environmental monitoring, and remote sensing using drones and satellites. Prior to the field week, students attended online lectures and successfully passed an exam to prepare for the practical activities. Following the field week, participants will write reports on their selected activities, consolidating their learning and contributing to the project's objectives.
