25 years - and how do we want to act in the future?
As Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, we have a social responsibility to live sustainability in the day-to-day running of the university. On the occasion of this year's 25th anniversary, we want to actively shape this role in order to raise awareness among all employees and students and to promote changes in behaviour. This means that we are thinking about our actions much more carefully and are more conscious of our use of natural resources.
Sustainability means creating something new and can be seen as a driver of innovation. A piece of change. In our 25 themes and events that will take place this year, we have also set ourselves these sustainability ideas for everyone.
The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2020. We as a university see it as our social responsibility to live sustainability in our daily university life and therefore all activities and events that will accompany us through the anniversary year will be under the topic of "sustainability".
On the occasion of our 25th anniversary, we want to actively shape this role in order to raise awareness among all employees, students and external parties and to promote changes in behaviour. As an educational institution, we reach a large number of people. By paying attention to what we do, we contribute to educating people about sustainability and how it is taken for granted in all parts of society. This means that we consider our actions much more carefully and use natural resources more consciously.
We would like to address the central aspects of sustainability, and this year we would like to focus more on them. Particular focus will be placed on the following aspects: Showing responsibility, thinking ahead on sustainability and being a role model for universities.
All events of CUAS focus on this sustainability concept. With simple things like climate-friendly travel, the use of reusable cups, the renunciation of beverage cans and a sustainable regional as well as biological beverage and food offer, CUAS events can be arranged much more ecologically. By using reusable systems, active waste avoidance is also pursued. We also want to emphasize the idea of sustainability at upcoming events.
In this sense, we as a university of applied sciences are willing to balance ecological, economic, social and societal aspects of "sustainability" as far as possible and to generate added value in all areas in the form of projects, initiatives and measures.
