Studentmobilities

The COVID-19 crisis has noticeably impacted the current mobilities. This semester, many outgoing students made the decision to return to Austria and continue the classes of the partner university online or to continue their internship abroad remotely.

All universities are doing their best by planning a variety of activities and efforts for the next semester. We would like to use the opportunity to present the possibilities and the most important points to you. If you are planning a stay abroad (study or internship) during the Covid / Post Covid period, you should absolutely consider the following aspects when organizing:

Your decision:

  • Before you register with the International Relations Office, please consult with your degree program! International coordinators and internship supervisors are happy to assist you!
  • The individual start of the mobility (at the location of the host institution) takes place only with the approval of CUAS and at the students own risk. If mobility is started physically and the student moves to the host country, this is done at your own risk.
  • Please also consider the organization of additional travel and health insurance, which offers insurance protection in this special situation for any costs that may arise.

The Erasmus grant

  • The International Relations Office also supports you in organizing Erasmus funding. In the participating partner countries of the Erasmus program, the regular funding can be obtained: for a study abroad between € 360-460 and for an internship abroad between € 460-560 per month depending on the host country. This requires a minimum temporary (at least one day) physical presence at the host institution (as of May 2020).
  • The ERASMUS + program includes all countries of the European Union, as well as Lichtenstein, Norway, Iceland, Macedonia, Turkey and Serbia. It is still possible to go to Great Britain until June 2021.

Choosing the land of destination:

  • The current travel warnings and recommendations of the Foreign Ministry of Austria must be strictly considered. Please also note the special regulations of individual countries regarding entry and exit (e.g. quarantine after arrival). The additional costs resulting from e.g. additional accommodation costs, costs for the molecular biological test for SARS-CoV-2, cannot be refunded, as these should be knowingly accepted if you start your mobility in the host country in the respective situation.
  • The extended processing times for visa and residence permit applications must also considered!
  • You should also take into account that returning to Austria or to your home country may not be possible in case of a new outbreak.
  • The health system or the health insurance offered by the host country should be checked very carefully before starting the trip.
