They signed a cooperation agreement between the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and the Hohe Tauern National Park (Carinthian part) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Heiligenblut Agreement.

Michael Jungmeier played a leading role in developing the cooperation: "National parks and other protected areas are important platforms for discussion, innovation and development. On the part of our UNESCO Chair, I am pleased to be able to support and accompany the Hohe Tauern National Park in the long term."

An annual programme is to be developed jointly within the framework of working meetings. "Some joint activities have already been agreed to, such as a regular exchange format called 'Expedition Nationalpark Hohe Tauern' or a deeper cooperation in the field of environmental education - between the CUAS 'smart lab Carinthia' and the Rangerlabs in the Mallnitz Visitor Centre. A lot is also possible in the area of virtual visitor and educational offers from the National Park," Schaar reveals.

"Through our cooperation with the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, two important partners in the field of education and research in Carinthia will work together in the future and set new energy in the Hohe Tauern National Park. The first joint 'Expedition Nationalpark Hohe Tauern' will take place in spring 2022 to discuss current nature conservation and national park issues with stakeholders inside and outside the national park region. The scientific support and evaluation by the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences is essential," explains Peter Rupitsch.
