Invitation to SIETAR Austria Expert Talks about Multilingualism Matters

SIETAR Austria is happy to announce a new online series with experts taking about Multilingualism. The SIETAR Austria team, based at CUAS in Villach, experiences and values different languages and cultures on an everyday basis.
 
Now they want to understand better some issues related to the ability of communicating in different languages. What are the advantages of speaking more than one language? Is it true that it delays the onset of Alzheimer disease? What does multilingualism mean? Does the language I speak influence the way I think?
After the great success of Thriving Thursdays - Mindfulness matters, SIETAR Austria is planning another expert talks series, called “Thriving Thursdays: Multilingualism Matters”. The format will remain the same: a 30 minutes appointment on Thursday evenings at 6pm, including a 20 minutes interview with our expert and 10 minutes for Q&A.
 
The first guest on February 25th will be Antonella Sorace. She is Professor of Developmental Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. She is a world leading authority and has published widely in the field of bilingualism across the lifespan, where she brings together methods from linguistics, experimental psychology, and cognitive science. She is also committed to bringing research to people in different sectors of society. She is the founding director of the research and public engagement center Bilingualism Matters, which currently has 28 branches in three different continents.
