The CUAS Campus in Spittal am Millstättersee, called the Spittl, offers a beautiful setting for academic celebrations. It was here that Michael Jungmeier was awarded the title of FH Professor at the 2021 summer ceremony on 16 July.

Jungmeier has been entrusted with the endowed professorship for nature conservation and sustainability at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences since October 2019.

In his laudation, Carinthia University of Applied Science Rector Peter Granig presented Jungmeier's career path, paying special attention to Jungmeier's achievements in the successful development of a company as well as in research and teaching. "In his projects, he has become acquainted with many protected areas around the world, in Europe as well as in Africa and Asia," explained the Rector. Professor Jungmeier thanked CUAS for the mutual cooperation: "I am very proud of this recognition. I receive it on behalf of an emerging scientific discipline, and I am already looking forward to the next steps."

Over the course of the ceremony, some 300 CUAS graduates received their Bachelor's and Master's degrees. In their academic oath, the topic of sustainability plays a special role: “I vow to conduct myself in a manner that respects the general welfare (and) protects the natural environment.” At the end of the ceremony, the graduates threw their freshly received hats into the air. To the graduates: all the best for your future!
