Lena Hofer, Adrian Hensel and David Wladika completed a one-month research internship at the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Management of Conservation Areas in summer 2022. Michael Jungmeier, chairholder and professor for conservation & sustainability, underlines the importance of practical work experience and emphasises: "With experiments, analyses and surveys, we can give the students their first practical experience in conservation and thus awaken their enthusiasm for technical fields." During their internship, the students were able to gain a wide range of theoretical and practical experience from the numerous research projects in the field of biodiversity research and environmental DNA. Part of the task during the internship was to prepare a final report on the research work and document it with a video. In the course of this, the three interns created a video with the highlights of the internship, which was now awarded at the annual FFG award ceremony by the Federal Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Leonore Gewessler.
This summer, FFG-funded research internships will once again be offered at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences for high school students. More information about internships on our research page
