Upon the successful completion of the Language Immersion Course Russian 2, students will acquire the following competencies related to the Russian language:

  • form and understand more complex sentences
  • read and write simple texts
  • understand audio messages
  • talk about food purchases
  • give information about their living conditions (apartment, town)
  • give information about oneself (e.g. personal data, age)
  • make small talk (e.g. about the weather)
  • talk about visits to doctors and the hospital
  • make vacation plans
  • make dialogues at the restaurant

This is a language course for slightly advanced students with basic knowledge of Russian (at CEF level A1-A2). The following language topics will be covered in this module:

  • The construction "u menja est' "
  • Classification of irregular forms in the plural
  • The accusative case in the direct object function
  • Irregular verbs
  • Indicative pronouns "ètot, èta, èto, èti"
  • All regular and irregular endings of the prepositional case in the singular
  • Numbers between 100 and 1 million
  • Verbs that describe a location in space: stojat', ležat', viset'
  • The imperative of the verb
  • The dative case of pronouns with the verb "nravitsja"
  • The dative case for expressing the age
  • Endings of the word "god" after numerals
  • Prepositions with the verb "igrat' "
  • The prepositional case with months
  • The construction "dožd'/sneg idëit' "
  • The instrumental case with seasons
  • Endings of the word "gradus" after numerals
  • The use of adverbs to describe the weather
  • The construction "u menja bolit"
  • Meanings and forms of the verb "bolet' "
  • The predicative "dolžen"
  • Dative case to describe the state
  • The future tense of the verb
  • The prepositional case with means of transport
  • The instrumental case with the preposition "s" in the singular plural
  • The dative case in indirect complement function
