The students are able to establish the connection between pathophysiological or pathobiochemical regulatory mechanisms of the human organism and the corresponding biomedical laboratory examinations and to assess the validity of the results. The students are able to validate the results of biomedical analysis, which are essential for the diagnosis and monitoring of organ-related disorders with regard to justified selection of the analyses, pre-analytic requirements, assessment of relevant parameters and the biomedical interpretation of the results. In accordance with the diagnostic question, students can assign and justify the corresponding methods and procedures for organ-related disorders or for purposes of screening.
Modules of the 1st and 2nd Semester
Clinical picture, pathogenesis, indication and laboratory diagnostics as well as an overview of the treatment options of selected organ-related disorders (case-based exemplary problems and findings in clinical cases such as diabetes mellitus, myocardial infarction, heart failure, cholestasis, hepatic insufficiency, cirrhosis, intoxication, pancreatitis, pancreatic insufficiency, nephritis, renal insufficiency, lipid metabolism disorder, hyperuricemia, Wilson's disease, thyroid disorders, adrenals, osteoporosis).
