Students are able to analyse and assess recent studies in the field of health services and evaluation research critically. They are also able to construct outlines for studies independently. Additionally they are able to identify regional differences in health services as well as differences in considering patient perspectives.

Module: Health Sciences (Knowledge Balance)

Health services research as interdisciplinary field of research describes health services and its context. It contributes to the development of scientifically based health services concepts, researches the implementation of new health services concepts and evaluates the efficiency of health services structures and processes in the context of everyday life (Pfaff 2003).
By means of practical examples from Austria and other German speaking countries the following health services aspects will be studied:
Players/groups of players
Special research approaches
Health competence
Determinants with regard to use
Models of health services as to social class and area
Quality and patient assurance research
Patient-reported outcome (PRO)
Organizational aspects
Health economics
