Introduction to the theory of cracked components as a basis for Damage Tolerant Design.
The students will learn to understand the behavior of materials and structures under dynamic loads and can dimension simple components exposed to fatigue loading.

- Time Stress Analysis
- Local damage concept
- Damage accumulation
- Concepts of damage tolerance

- Introduction to the theory of cracked components
- Notch stress theory
- Linear elastic fracture mechanics
- Theory of the plastic zone - Plastic collapse
