The students discuss the modern production process of steel profiles and interrelate production and material properties to the material-related requirements from the design and execution of steel structures. On the basis of modern design concepts according to current European Standards, they analyze and design typical structural members. The different options of structural detailing and execution of joints are reflected and compared. Special focus is laid on fire protection and corrosion protection of steel structures.Based on a holistic approach, the students elaborate interrelationships and differentiation to other materials and building methods.
