Students are able to calculate the forces and moments in statically determinate and statically indeterminate systems easily. Starting from the layout drawing they are prepared to calculate the stress resultant distributions and interpret them. They are able to calculate the center of gravity of simple and composite areas, and also those derived from simple mathematical functions. They can determine the friction forces and friction moments for recurring systems typical for mechanical engineering.
