The students can establish the connection between the biology of the pathogens and the pathophysiological regulatory mechanisms of the human organism as well as the resulting microbiological-virological-hygienic laboratory examinations and assess the validity of the results. The students are able to competently validate the results of biomedical analysis, which are essential for the diagnosis, monitoring or prophylaxis of infectious diseases, preanalytical requirements, assessment of relevant analysis and interpretation of the results. Depending on the diagnostic problem in infectious diseases, including the determination of the resistance situation of the infectious agent or for purposes of screening / infection prophylaxis or monitoring, they can assign and justify the corresponding biomedical methods and procedures. The students are aware of the importance of molecular biology in diagnostics and therapy and have in-depth knowledge of molecular diagnostics on the basis of clinically relevant questions. They are capable of validating biomedical analyses essential for the clinical diagnosis, monitoring or predisposition diagnosis of inherited, infectious or tumor diseases, preanalytical requirements, assessment of relevant analyses and interpretation of results in a competent manner. In accordance with the diagnostic question or for the purposes of screening / predisposition / prenatal diagnostics/ forensics, they can assign and justify the corresponding methods and procedures from molecular medical analytics.

  • Epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical picture, laboratory diagnostics including investigation methodology and overview of (antimicrobial) therapy of selected infectiological diseases, organ or problem-related questions in infection diagnostics or monitoring, prophylaxis (case-based problems in clinical cases of infections of the CNS, the urinary tract/ genital organs, the respiratory system, the heart, the skin or the digestive organs), special questions in pregnancy, immunosuppression, nosocomial infections)
  • Human genetics, epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical picture, laboratory diagnosis and investigation methodology and overview of the therapy of selected molecular-medical / human genetic diseases (case-based problems in clinical cases of hereditary diseases, chromosomal anomalies and tumors, specific questions in pharmacogenomics, predisposition diagnostics)
  • Paternity analysis, prenatal diagnosis, neonatal screening
