  • The AV.5G project aims to accelerate automated driving in Austria through secure, high-performance, low-latency 5G standalone networks. Pilot projects in Graz and Klagenfurt will test automated software and map updates, precise vehicle localisation, and simulation-based safety validation to reduce downtime and improve the safety, efficiency, and availability of autonomous public transport.

The project also brings together mobility, digitalisation, and telecommunications, creating synergies between research and industry while demonstrating the need for gigabit-capable infrastructure. Through knowledge transfer and scalable applications such as "Vehicle-as-a-Sensor", it seeks to enable new services, support network expansion, reduce CO₂ emissions, and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
