Dear research, knowledge and innovation enthusiasts, dear Falling Walls Alumni! As a key player in research and innovation, your network can make a real impact! We invite you to help us identify and encourage outstanding early-career researchers, students, and innovators to apply for Falling Walls Lab Austria 2026.

This year, we place a strong emphasis on transforming research into real-world applications and entrepreneurial ventures. We are looking for ideas that go beyond theory – projects with the potential to become startups, spin-offs, or impactful solutions addressing global challenges.

Falling Walls Lab Austria also warmly welcomes submissions from applicants based in Slovenia. The Austrian edition of Falling Walls Lab is once again hosted by build! Gründungszentrum, Kärnten Gründungsnetzwerk and AplusB Southwest, in collaboration with the academic partners – Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, TU Graz, and the University of Klagenfurt  and supported by High Tech Campus Villach as well as the City of Villach.

Prizes

  • 1st Prize: €1,000 + ticket to pitch at the international Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin (November), including financial support for travel costs
  • 2nd Prize: €750

 

About the Event

This event provides a unique platform to turn research into real-world impact, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and entrepreneurial thinking. Falling Walls Lab challenges participants to break down barriers – from research to application – and drive meaningful change.

Each Lab brings together emerging talents to present breakthrough ideas in just three minutes. The winner advances to the global finale in Berlin, held annually in November as part of the Falling Walls Science Summit.
