What began at Stanford University in 2015 is now a global movement: WiDS at Stanford University (Women in Data Science) connects experts from research and industry with over 200 regional events each year. The aim is to inspire data scientists worldwide and, in particular, to empower women in the field. With the 30×30 mission, their share in education, innovation, and leadership is to increase to 30 percent by 2030.
With WiDS Villach, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences is bringing the initiative to Austria for the seventh time. The conference is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Women in STEM under the direction of Anita Kloss-Brandstätter and Olivia Pfeiler. Anyone interested in data science is invited to attend, regardless of gender.
WiDS Villach offers insights into current research, practical examples from leading companies, and a wide range of networking opportunities, once again making Carinthia a meeting place for the international data science community.
The next event will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Europastraße 4, 9524 Villach.
