The trip offered a rich blend of strategic insights, entrepreneurial stories, and cultural experiences—showing students how international business is lived in practice.
The first stop was at Ringana, where the group was warmly welcomed by the two Managing Directors Andreas Wilfinger and Michael Wannemacher, Business Development Manager Jordi Marin, and Executive Assistant Anna-Lena Matejka. Students gained a vivid impression of Ringana’s strong international growth, fresh-production philosophy, and innovative sales approach. The energetic presentations sparked lively discussions and highlighted how entrepreneurial vision and sustainability can drive international success.
At Zotter Schokolade, Julia Zotter shared the inspiring journey of the family business—from its local beginnings to becoming an internationally recognised bean-to-bar chocolate pioneer. Her personal insights into international expansion and the company’s values-driven strategy resonated strongly with the group. A particularly touching moment was the film about Zotter’s partnerships in Uganda, which illustrated the company’s commitment to fair and responsible sourcing. And of course, the students (and lecturers) highly enjoyed tasting hundreds of different varieties of chocolate in the Zotter Chocolate Experience.
The excursion continued across the border to Impol Group in Slovenska Bistrica, Slovenia. Denis Škrabl led the students on a tour of the production site, while Nina Potočnik provided an excellent overview of the group’s structure, international activities, and strategic adaptability in shifting global conditions. The detailed explanations offered students a deeper understanding of global industrial operations. Thank you to Maja Slatinek Kopše for perfectly organizing the visit.
In addition to the professional programme, the group enjoyed an overnight stay in Maribor, including a visit to the city’s Christmas market, which created a festive and memorable atmosphere to the excursion.
This integrated practical learning experience once again demonstrated the value of connecting academic theory with insights from leading companies. A heartfelt thank you to Ringana, Zotter Schokolade, and the Impol Group for their hospitality, time, and inspiring conversations!
