A mechanical engineer with a doctorate specialising in mechatronics, he has over 24 years of international industry experience in automotive and drive technology. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership positions, most recently as CTO and member of the Executive Board at hofer AG, with overall responsibility for technology, sales, and P&L. Previously, he was responsible, among other things, for the development and series production launch of electric drive systems for renowned German automakers and held senior positions at companies such as Magna Powertrain and AVL. His work combines in-depth technical expertise with strategic product and business development.

With around 30 patent applications in drive technology, as well as numerous international technical presentations and publications, Prof. Hackl is known for his strong innovative spirit and scientific excellence.

In addition to his career in industry, he has extensive teaching experience in mechatronics, including at the University of Applied Sciences Wels. His particular focus is on interdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and software – a key competency for developing future technical systems.

With his combination of industry connections, innovative strength, and teaching experience, he will play a decisive role in shaping education at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
