BiodiverCITY Villach

BiodiverCITY Villach - Federaun

The BiodiverCITY Villach project has officially commenced in early March 2025.

This initiative, funded by Stadt Villach and led by the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Management of Conservation Areas at FH Kärnten, aims to monitor and improve biodiversity in the city area.

The project will utilize advanced technologies such as high-resolution remote sensing for vegetation and acoustic sensors for bird monitoring to ensure accurate and reproducible data collection.

The efforts will include an initial site inspection, development of a technical implementation concept, and cost estimation for the biodiversity monitoring setup. The project is set to provide practical benefits for the city in terms of awareness, information, planning, and maintenance of these areas, with the research phase expected to conclude by October 2025.

Project duration: March 2025 - October 2025

Financed by: City of Villach
