The BioBox project aims to promote biodiversity in urban and rural areas by providing practical measures for both private and public green spaces.

Since over 70% of urban greenery is privately owned, it is crucial to offer garden owners simple and cost-effective solutions to support pollinators, birds, and bats.

The BioBox includes easy-to-implement measures to enhance biodiversity, along with low-threshold monitoring methods for citizens, businesses, and municipalities. Pilot sites in Austria and Italy will test the feasibility of the BioBox, and the effectiveness of its measures will be assessed through targeted monitoring.

A broad awareness campaign will highlight the importance of biodiversity and encourage active participation. Overall, the project makes a significant contribution to the protection and understanding of biodiversity in the programme region.

Project duration: January 2025 – March 2027
