The students understand which types of failure in steel construction are decisive for form finding and definition of cross-section, and can design steel structures in building construction, taking into account the material-specific characteristics and requirements. In particular, they are able to design connection and node details according to the material characteristics and evaluate them in terms of feasibility and cost-effectiveness.

  • Conception and bracing of steel structures
  • Material-appropriate connection and node details
  • Fatigue-resistant design in steel
  • Consideration of fire load and durability requirements
