• describe the general basic principles of lymphatic physiotherapy (incl. complex decongestive physical therapy).
  
• demonstrate self-management and consultation strategies adapted to the needs of the concerned patients.
  
• conduct treatment techniques for chosen lymph node areas and the related tributary regions.
  
• apply diagnostic and treatment measures in the context of physiotherapeutic processes.

The course deals with the following subjects/contents:

• Basic principles of the lymphatic system (e.g. lymphatic ducts, lymphatic nodes, lymphatic vessels, etc.)
• Causes and development of oedema and lymph oedema
• Chosen types of oedema (e.g. lymph oedema, oedema caused by a traumatic event, lipoedema, inflammatory oedema, etc.)
• Specific diagnostic assessment, documentation and therapy evaluation
• Components and effect of lymphological physiotherapy (e.g. manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging, etc.).
• Chosen treatment techniques (e.g. special stroke techniques, specific sequences of strokes, etc.) for different body regions
• Principles of redirection mechanisms
• Consultation and self-management strategies
• Indications and contraindications
