Students are familiar with
• the basic rules of mathematical modeling using MatLab and Wolfram Mathematica.
They are able to
• create simple mathematical models of engineering mechanics and physics in MATLAB and implement these models in MatLab and Mathematica.

Introduction to programming with MATLAB and Mathematica
• Real-valued functions of one and more variables
• Fundamentals of Linear Algebra with MATLAB (vectors, matrices, systems of equations, eigenvalue problems)
• Simple tasks of analytical geometry (distances, angles, area and volume, normal vector, coordinate transformations)
• Non-linear equations with an unknown (analytical and numerical calculation of zeros)
• Analytical solution of linear systems of equations, direct methods
• Differential and integral calculus for functions of a real variable
• Differential and integral calculus for functions of several real variables
• Analytical solution of linear differential equations (with constant coefficients) from technical mechanics and physics
• Approximation of data, compensation calculation
• Introduction to computer graphics with MATLAB
• Symbolic algebra with MATLAB and Maple or Mathematica
• Modeling simple technical systems using MATLAB / Simulink and Simscape
