Continuous scientific and technological progress requires - on the part of the students - a permanent engagement with innovative methods and procedures as well as new trends and technologies for biomedical science. Students are able to follow new trends and innovative technologies in the field of biomedical analytics, assess their relevance for professional practice as well as the need for further training in terms of lifelong learning for themselves, in order to adequately handle the work with new innovative technologies, trends and developments. In addition to technological innovations (e.g. biochip technologies, personalized medicine, nanotechnologies), organizational changes and trends based on requirements which need to be met by an efficient healthcare system are also analyzed, as well as the requirements of the digital transformation of work and life. The students should be enabled to carry out standard bioinformatic analyses independently. In addition, students are able to understand biomedical analytics integratively, i.e. understand and manage complex work processes. This also includes rising to the challenge of including new tasks that were previously not part of the routine andmastering them qualitatively, efficiently and effectively in the sense of an evidence-based practice. It is also required that the students are able to independently and autonomously deal with a research question from the field of biomedical analysis according to scientific principles and methods. They can investigate current scientific findings in the national and international field, derive research-relevant questions and objectives, formulate hypotheses and prepare the collected data for answering their scientific questions. They can understand the importance of a scientific attitude for all occupational areas and are able to apply the acquired knowledge in other areas of research and development, science and education or in industry or veterinary medicine.

  • Innovations, innovation management, technology analysis, organizational requirements
  • New trends and developments in biomedical analysis
  • Innovative technologies, methods and procedures for biomedical analysis using selected examples (keywords: personalized medicine, biochip technology, nanotechnology, "omics" technologies) possible application scenarios and fields of action, challenges for the future
  • Systematics of automated analysis systems (construction, sample identification, sample processing, etc.); Method and device validation, evaluation of methods and procedures / devices (evaluation criteria of an analysis system: precision and correctness, linearity, specificity and sensitivity, analytical limits, carry-over effects, capacity of an analysis system, method hierarchy)
  • Integrative biomedical analysis with laboratory course (exercise)
  • Disciplinary and interdisciplinary case studies / discussions on relevant questions of biomedical analysis in a clinical context
  • Supervision, reflection, documentation and presentation of the internship
  • Presentation and discussion of disciplinary and interdisciplinary study designs, research and development projects on relevant biomedical analysis (method workshop)
  • Critical assessment of study design in terms of credibility, informative value and applicability of individual publications (Journal Club)
  • Bachelor's thesis (advice in the individual phases, clarification of theoretical / content-related, methodological questions, discussion of problems and difficulties in writing the bachelor's thesis)
