Welcome to the Family! Almost 300 New Students Kickstart Their Journey at FH Kärnten
On September 30th, our Villach campus came alive as we officially welcomed the newest members of our academic community. It was a day of new beginnings, new friendships, and exciting opportunities for almost 300 students. We are thrilled to welcome almost 100 new engineering students and a truly global cohort of more than 140 international students from 50 different countries!
The atmosphere was fantastic, with a great energy felt throughout the day. Our goal was to provide a perfect blend of useful information and fun, and the feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive.
A Day Packed with Highlights:
- The CUAS Rector Peter Granig and Andreas Sucher, a representative from the Local Council as well as Christian Menard, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering&IT kicked things off, making everyone feel welcome.
- Students got the inside scoop on everything from career services and working in Austria to navigating our library and IT systems. First-year students at the Faculty of Engineering & IT also gained insights into Carinthian industry, both in person and through digital greetings. Three different laboratory tours provided initial insights into the Science & Energy Labs of the technical degree programs.
- The day was filled with opportunities for students to connect with each other and with key staff members. The lunch hall was buzzing with conversation as our new arrivals from around the world shared their stories.
- The day ended with a fun and interactive session of traditional Austrian dance, proving that learning at FH Kärnten goes far beyond the classroom!
The Welcome Day was the perfect start to the semester, laying the foundation for a successful and enriching experience. We are incredibly excited to see what this diverse and talented group of students will achieve. Welcome to Carinthia University of Applied Sciences!
