Together with our Team of theUNESCO Chair on Sustainable Management of Conservation Areas, student volunteers andStadt Villach, we planted 300 native flower bearing trees and shrubs, creating a tiny forest aka Miyawaki forest. By planting various native plant species in close proximity to one another, a multi-layered and diverse forest area is mimicked thus enhancing rapid growth and resilience. Monitoring of the plot will begin soon, tracking the change in biodversity on the plot.
A big shout out toMojca Nastran, who brought this measure to our attention and lead the way to an even greener campus. And thanks to everybody who lend a helping hand, you´ll always have a plant in Villach now.
