The EUI Activities Report 2024 is finally out, providing a glance into the manifold efforts and activities that shaped Carinthia University of Applied Sciences’ (CUAS) engagement in the European Universities Initiative (EUI) over the past year—particularly through its partnership with universities from the ATHENA network and its more recent involvement in the ACE²-EU Alliance.
The report testifies to the incredible efforts of CUAS staff members and students to create opportunities and foster international networks at all levels. Several events and activities allowed students and staff from both sides to gain exceptional international learning experiences. For example, in the BlendED program and the Science Slam, researchers brought in their expertise to initiate meaningful research projects, such as the Horizon –funded project on Social Economy for Resilience, Inclusion, and Good Life in Rural Areas. Staff members from CUAS’ faculties and service departments shared their professional journeys and insights in onsite and virtual exchange forums, such as the ATHENA Talks and the 3rd ATHENA International Staff Week, promoting mutual inspiration and learning. That CUAS’ expertise and initiatives are highly esteemed by our international colleagues is reflected in many colleagues visiting our institution. For example, at the occasion of the annual Meet & Match Fair in May with over 100 of CUAS’ external key partners involved and the International Day that gathered more than 150 participants in October.
Increased participation in national and international conferences focusing on internationalization of universities and European Universities further support learning from others’ experiences, while increasing CUAS international visibility as a future-oriented university. The ACE²-EU Alliance will open many more of these opportunities and strengthen CUAS’ dedication and capacity to foster internationalization, inclusion, and leadership in shaping the future of European higher education.
