Students are capable of

  • conducting a physiotherapeutic process in the field of orthopaedics (extremities).
  • drawing up a therapy plan and implementing it according to scientific insights.
  • adapting the dosage of the therapeutic measures to suit the course of the particular disease and the needs of the patients.
  • applying, evaluating and reflecting on physiotherapeutic techniques on the basis of patient cases.

The course deals with the following subjects:

  • Physiotherapeutic process in orthopaedics (extremities)
  • Shoulder area: Impingement, forms of tendinosis, tendinopathy, frozen shoulder, instability, arthrosis, TEP (total endoprosthesis)
  • Elbows: Epicondylitis, arthrosis
  • Hand/wrist joint: Compression syndromes, arthroses of the finger joints
  • Hip joint: Dysplasia, impingement, arthroses, hip TEP
  • Knee joint: Patellofemoral pain syndrome, Osgood Schlatter disease, recurrent patellar luxation, corrective osteotomy, varus/valgus gonarthrosis, knee TEP
  • Foot: Deformities of the arch and toes, tendinopathies, arthrodesis, insoles
  • Special treatment techniques: Functional massage treatments, mobilising massage, cross-friction

Cumulative module exam: The grade from "ILV Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics (Focus on Extremities)" is incorporated into the module grade with a weighting of 22%.
