The students

  • know team building processes
  • are able to solve tasks effectively as a team. (Various measures such as outdoor sports activities or group exercises are used to strengthen trust and cooperation).
  • can recognize the strengths of team members, resolve conflicts constructively and promote communication, as well as use these skills, especially during onboarding, to quickly integrate new members into the team and create a positive working atmosphere. (In this way, students are optimally prepared for teamwork in a professional environment).
  • understand the basic aesthetic principles of visual communication, the perceptual-psychological principles of information processing and the quality criteria for the assessment of visual design.
  • are able to use vocabulary, design processes and workflow in communication design and advertising agencies.

The module covers the following topics, among others:

  • Team building activities
  • Joint sporting events (hiking, table tennis tournaments, etc.)
  • Problem solving in a team
  • Basics of information processing
  • Visual design rules based on findings from the psychology of perception:
    Form, contrast, color, material and structure
  • Design laws
  • Image composition and visual systems (grids, modular systems)
  • Basics of typographic design: font quality, legibility, layout
  • Basics of corporate design development

  • M. Wäger: "Grafik und Gestaltung: Design und Mediengestaltung von A bis Z; Gebundenes Buch ", Rheinwerk Design, 4th Edition,2025;
  • N. Hammer: "Mediendesign für Studium und Beruf: Grundlagenwissen und Entwurfssystematik in Layout, Typografie und Farbgestaltung", Springer Verlag, 2008;
