Digital Marketing & Sales
Bachelor Degree Program Management

Modern Management and Digitalization

Digital Marketing & Sales describes the use of digital channels, such as the internet, social media, or mobile apps, to promote and sell products or services. In today's digital age, it is essential for businesses of all sizes to have a strong online presence to reach and engage with their target audience.

A degree in Digital Marketing & Sales offers numerous advantages to graduates: expertise that is in high demand, diverse career prospects, global reach, the opportunity to work creatively and the ability to deliver data-driven decision-making and measurable results. Our bachelor program stands out due to the applied student experience, industry connections, specialized study areas and up-to-date curriculum. Through real-world projects and internships, you can apply theoretical knowledge effectively. Industry connections provide networking opportunities, while specialized courses allow you to focus on your specific interests. The curriculum ensures you stay informed about latest trends and technologies, preparing you for the dynamic digitized business landscape.

There are many different types of digital marketing, including search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click or pay-per-conversion advertising (SEA),social media marketing, content marketing, e-mail marketing, affiliate marketing and influencer marketing. Each type has its own unique set of benefits and can be used to achieve specific marketing goals. By utilizing digital marketing strategies, businesses can reach a larger audience, build brand awareness and drive sales. By measuring the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns, businesses can continue to improve and evolve their strategies to stay ahead of the competition.

Digital Marketing & Sales offer students a general business degree in English with a specialization in marketing and sales. The job prospects with a bachelor's degree in this field are excellent. The large number of international and national job openings with a corresponding skills profile shows this in particular. These include positions such as digital marketing manager, social media manager, content marketing manager, brand manager, CRM manager, event marketing manager, international marketing manager, performance marketing manager or sales manager. However, as the subject area and associated job requirements constantly evolve, continued high demand for graduates can be expected.

Ambitious students can combine their studies with a corresponding job to gain practical experience. With the Study & Work Program you have the opportunity to work in one of the top companies in Carinthia from the beginning of your studies. For more information, visit the Study & Work page.

Curriculum – Digital Marketing & Sales

In the first five semesters, students visit lectures and participate in seminars and courses. In the fourth semester, students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of our partner universities worldwide. The sixth semester is dedicated to the professional internship and the bachelor thesis. In addition to a solid business education, the bachelor's program Digital Marketing & Sales offers relevant modules in the corresponding field, including

  • Marketing & Sales
  • Digital Marketing (in an International Environment)
  • Graphic Design
  • Digital Media
  • Event-Marketing
  • Content Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Performance Marketing
  • Brand Management
  • Sales & Customer-Relationship-Management
  • Marketing Research

Digital Marketing & Sales - Profile

Graduates of the bachelor program Digital Marketing & Sales are able to…
  • collect necessary information for the development of digital marketing strategies and carry out relevant analyses,
  • develop digital marketing concepts,
  • plan and implement campaigns in the field of digital communication and digital sales,
  • measure the success of digital marketing activities and sales strategies

Building on the competences gained in the bachelor's program Business, students of Digital Marketing & Sales acquire an additional specific set of competences in the following areas:

  • Analysis & measurement of digital marketing activities
  • Strategic Digital Marketing
  • Operational Marketing
  • Tools and methods in digital marketing and sales

Particular importance is also attached to the development of methodological competence, with a focus on analysis, problem-solving skills and the use of relevant software (e.g. for the creation of advertising materials or the analysis of campaigns). Since the entire curriculum is taught in English, foreign language skills are also promoted and students from different nations are addressed. The international and intercultural composition of students offers further opportunities to develop relevant social skills.

Graduates of the Bachelor's program Digital Marketing & Sales have knowledge in the following areas:
  • Fundamentals of economics and business administration
  • Bookkeeping and accounting
  • Cost accounting and controlling
  • Investment and financing
  • Marketing
    • Approaches to marketing analysis and measurement
    • Strategic digital marketing and sales
    • Operational digital marketing and sales
    • Digital marketing tools and methods
  • Organizational theory and organizational development
  • Human resource management
  • Project management
  • Digitalization
  • Statistics and empirical social research

The acquisition of methodological and professional competences takes place in study modules. Particular importance is attached to the ability to analyze and solve problems, but also to the confident use of relevant software and foreign language skills. For example, IT content and technical English are part of the curriculum so students can handle complex tasks and problems independently and flexibly. In addition, five further languages are available through elective courses.

What students should bring to their studies:
  • Interest in economic topics.
  • The ability to work in teams and to lead them.
  • Language and communication skills.
  • Responsible social behaviour.
  • Fun with international and intercultural challenges.
  • Interest in innovative technologies

Significant importance is attached to the social and personal skills of students. These "soft skills" concern, for example, the topics of communication and conflict management, presentation techniques or cooperation and collaboration. Within the study program, students work in changing group compositions on case studies and practical tasks, as well as in the 4th semester on an extensive project (basic module: project management). This develops and promotes important social skills (ability to work in a team, ability to resolve conflicts, communication skills) and personal skills (especially the ability to reflect on one's own role and performance in teams).

Job & Career

The core modules of the Bachelor's degree program Business open up many job opportunities for graduates in the areas of controlling, finance and accounting, manufacturing and logistics management, human resource development and management, marketing, and project management.

Within the bachelor program Digital Marketing & Sales, students also acquire the necessary skills and practical experience (e.g. through projects and the compulsory professional internship in the sixth semester) to qualify for the following functions in the field of digital marketing and sales:

  • Brand manager
  • Content marketing manager
  • Social media manager
  • Event marketing manager
  • International marketing manager
  • Performance marketing manager
  • CRM manager
  • Sales manager

Within these functions, there is a distinction between entry-level ("junior") positions and managerial ("senior") positions. Typically, graduates of a bachelor's degree program first fill "junior" positions in order to assume management responsibility after a few years of professional and industry experience. This also applies to the graduates of the bachelor program Digital Marketing & Sales.

Successful completion of the bachelor's degree program in Digital Marketing & Sales entitles students to enter one of the CUAS School of Management's master's degree programs. In addition, completion of the bachelor's program also enables students to start an equivalent master's program at other universities or universities of applied sciences.

Practice-oriented business education & profile-building specializations

SPECIFIC KEY AND FUTURE SKILLS

The Bachelor study program in Management offers a compact, practice-oriented basic education in economics. In addition, there is a strong focus on teaching key and future skills tailored to the respective branches of study (6 German-language and 2 English-language) from the first semester onwards. This profile-building specialization accounts for more than half of the total course content. Current topics such as sustainability, digitality, internationality and diversity are an integral part of many modules.

PRACTICAL RELEVANCE

The high practical relevance of the study program is ensured by close cooperation with regional, national and international companies as well as the use of experienced lecturers from industry, business and institutions, who bring current topics and new developments from professional practice into the study program or can also be experienced in excursions. The students' transfer skills are strengthened by working on specific and current practical tasks.

Degree program management full-time: modern study time model

In the full-time study program, the modules are divided into two semesters with an intermediate or final examination week. This enables focused learning and makes it easier for students to plan the time required to complete their examinations.

Campus & Arrival

Villach

The Villach region combines tradition, cosmopolitanism and quality of life with the advantages of an innovative business location. Villach, a small town with about 60,000 inhabitants, is an international high-tech location with groundbreaking cooperation between science and industry and is also increasingly developing into a start-up town.

Situated directly at the intersection of three cultures, Villach, situated on the Drava river, is an important traffic junction in the Alps-Adriatic region. This special geographical location and the beautiful landscape around Villach and in the federal state of Carinthia have made the region a popular holiday destination for generations, further beyond the borders. The drinking water quality of the lakes and the particularly clean air make Villach and its surroundings an environmental paradise.

In addition to its geographical advantages, Austria also leads the world in terms of its social and health care system and is considered a particularly safe, prosperous and liveable country.

Despite the above-average prosperity and the comprehensive state social benefits, Villach compares favourably with many international destinations. The "small town bonus" comes into its own here and makes everyday life affordable.
