  • The optimal direction of the reinforcement fibers is of crucial importance in developing strong lightweight structures. However, most research is only concerned with 3-axis printing, which limits the fiber placement to the two-dimensional plane. The objective of the research cooperation is to contribute to the development of a novel robust design strategy for non-planar 3D printing utilizing a multi-axis printer. As a strategic approach, stretching-dominated lattice structures are proposed and a stochastic modeling method is used to account for material uncertainties.
