The UNESCO Chair´s brownbag session – an innovative short lecture for lunch time

Brownbag

Since the start of the virtual brownbag sessions at the UNESCO Chair in January 2021, we have already held more than 25 interesting short lectures with renowned speakers from all over the world, followed by a discussion.

The topics range from sustainable development of conservation areas in South America to the dangers of biodiversity loss in the West Bank, or applied research in the Carinthian Nockberge Biosphere Reserve with the project SCiENCE_LINK.

What is a brownbag session?

The title Brownbag is meant to be a reference to the brown paper bag you use to pack your snack. Every Wednesday, at 12:15 CET, the UNESCO Chair invites partners and friends to a brownbag session in which different representatives of grassroot initiatives, international organisations, and the scholarly world give a short account on nature conservation in the 21st century and contribute to a lunchtime discussion.
