17 new students have enrolled in the Nature Conservation Engineer Certification Programme

The first module of the program has begun successfully.

The Nature Conservation Engineer certification, implemented by Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and the E.C.O. Institute of Ecology, is a one-year training programme focusing on hands-on conservation issues that occur on construction sites, infrastructure and in the public space. The February 2021 kick-off seminar was a forum for the 17 course participants to become acquainted with the coursework and the CUAS administration. As the seasons progress, field excursions will follow the phenology of insects, plants, and animals in their natural environments. We are looking forward to the months ahead!

The Nature Conservation Engineer certification is an additional educational qualification to an existing profession. The coursework provides an introductory overview (e.g. nature conservation biology, nature conservation law, and associated professions), knowledge transfer of equipment and state-of-the-art technologies (e.g. telemetry, drones, geo-information) as well as practical training. The training of central competencies is conducted in the field.

This certification programme shall continue in future years. Target participants include employees of construction companies, energy, raw materials and transport industry personnel, governmental planning departments, nature conservation organisations, and public administration officials.

The next anticipated start date: February 2022
