What is possible with power electronics and why is power electronics a key technology of the future? How does it affect us in our daily lives and how will the job market evolve in this direction?

Power electronics brings energy from the renewable source to the computer with low losses. Due to the large amount of energy required, an efficiency improvement of just one percentage point results in a savings of approximately 10 megatons of CO2 per year. Wind and solar energy can only be used through electrical energy conversion. Efficiency is important for both feed-in and local consumption. Battery capacity and the efficiency of the electric powertrain define the number and duration of coffee breaks on a long car trip. But only electric mobility is sustainable mobility.

These and other questions about the importance of power electronics for digitalization, renewable energy and e-mobility will be answered at the event and discussed afterwards.

The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences organizes the 83rd Digital Dialogue on the topic "Power Electronics - Key Technology of the Future". In keeping with this, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences will be offering the new English-language master's program " Industrial Power Electronics" at the Villach campus starting in fall 2021.
The Digital Dialog is a series of events organized by the Silicon Alps Clusters and is held in cooperation with the following partners: FH Campus 02, Joanneum Research, IT Community Styria and FH Kärnten. At this series, which was already launched in 2011 by the Styrian Business Promotion Agency SFG, recognized technology experts provide insight into their field of activity. At the concluding dialog, there will be the opportunity to discuss and network with them.

The event is free of charge.
