Management case studies developed by faculty of the CUAS “International Business Management” master´s degree are used by universities on four continents.

One example is the case study “Market Expansion at cms electronics,” written by Dietmar Sternad, “International Business Management” Program Director. The case describes the successful internationalization strategy of an electronic manufacturing services firm. In the year 2016, the case was used by more than 25 universities around the world, for example, at Georgetown University (USA), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong/China), University of Sydney (Australia), University of Auckland (New Zealand), Concordia University (Canada), University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Grenoble Ecole de Management (France), or WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (Germany).

Case author Dietmar Sternad says that “case studies are an important building block of the practice-oriented education in our School of Management. We are happy that the quality of our cases is also valued by colleagues from all over the world, so that they are adopted at so many different institutions.”

The global reach of the case studies produced at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences is ensured by the distribution over renowned case study platforms such as Harvard Business Publishing, Ivey Publishing, HEC Montréal Case Centre or The Case Centre. CUAS case studies have also received multiple international awards, for example, from CEEMAN, Emerald, OIKOS, the John Molson International MBA Case Competition, or the Academy of Management.
