"As in many other areas, information with a geographical reference is used in the state administration to support efficient decision-making processes in spatial planning. Thus, this geodata provides an essential basis for many areas such as water management, road construction, forestry, disaster control, etc. In particular, data obtained or derived from remote sensing (e.g.: digital orthophotos, digital terrain and surface models, etc.) play a fundamental role for many applications such as hazard zone maps, visibility analyses, solar potential cadastre. The Department of Geoinformation and Real Estate sees itself as a geo service centre in order to cover an extremely wide range of services through a nationwide spatial data infrastructure."
