Students have an essential understanding of the process of knowledge acquisition in science. They are familiar with considerable foundations of epistemology and its consequences for the cognitive process. They know the constitutive rules and fundamental concepts for the generation of scientific theories and are able to present them critically. They understand the real constitution of the existing scientific systems and the applicable rules therein.

At the end of the course, students are able to selectively and efficiently research literature and subsequently document and present this research accordingly. They are able to develop a research question and derive hypotheses. Various techniques for reading, understanding and processing of scientific texts are known.

Various forms of scientific publications and their contribution to knowledge acquisition are known; the capacity to critically examine sources (mainly the internet) exists. Students are familiar with the common rules of citation and are able to implement them correctly.
