Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
better understand communication (understand how it works).
realize where to start in order to communicate more appreciative and targeted.
reflect upon and become aware of their own style of communication.
raise awareness of the strengths of their style of communication.
understand the most common strategies of conflict management.
develop personal communication skills.
Principles of communication (Introduction to selected models - Thomas Gordon, Friedemann, Schulz von Thun, Manfred Autumnheller, Rosenberg etc.);
Techniques of appreciative communication (feedback, active listening, setting boundaries in a respectful/appreciative way);
Reflect and realize your own style of communication;
Develop your own communication-profile (Realizing the strengths and weaknesses of your own style of communication);
Working on your style of communication (video-analysis, role-plays, practice);
This course examines the nature of conflict and the impact that conflict has on our lives. The focus of the course is on self-assessment and the effect that different styles of conflict management have on the parties involved. Specific strategies for managing conflict, including verbal and nonverbal communication, active listening and negotiation are explored.
