identify workflow management and associated management systems.

Business Process Management (BPM) is a discipline involving any combination of modeling, automation, execution, control, measurement and optimization of business activity flows, in support of enterprise goals, spanning systems, employees, customers and partners within and beyond the enterprise boundaries. When the process is totally automated and IT controlled it is called workflow.
In the course the students first get a theoretical overview of BPM and learn how to identify typical business processes. They will also be instructed in how to model (with an event driven process chain), optimize and simulate this processes in the ARIS software (ARIS Business Designer). In the optimization part the implementation of workflow components is discussed.
