This course aims to prepare students for the language requirements of giving oral presentations and writing business reports. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

prepare and deliver an oral presentation, focusing on delivery and purpose using appropriate media.
write a business report, using appropriate style and structure.
give feedback to others to help develop their own ability for self-reflection.
develop their listening skills to understand and identify key ideas of numerous texts related to their field of study.
develop strategies to note down key ideas related to their field of study.

General English II - Current Trends & Business Communication

Product / service / problem presentations relating to the students' field of study (based on research and analysis of relevant literature);
Product and service descriptions;
Vocabulary expansion: noun phrases and emphasis;
Voice: applying pitch, volume, pause and rate to empower the oral message;
Note-taking strategies;
Listening strategies: Listening for gist and detail in an academic context.

Specific language instruction, such as vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing skills will be provided based on specific needs of students.
