Topics studied in elective courses are planned to prepare for the master thesis in semester 4. Upcomming new topics of interest will be subject of this course.

General knowledge about MEMS multidisciplinary world. MEMS working principles, technology, applications and markets. Mechanics and physics applied to miniaturized structures. Mastering MEMS design challenges: both electronic and mechanic. Impact of electrostatic forces with capacitive readout. Control and readout electronics. System design and concept. Electromechanical coupled simulations and interaction of the two entities.

Basics of CMOS technology and lithographic processes. Basic knowledge about: electronic noise, bandwidth, RC and LCR filters, resolution. Basic knowledge of Laplace and Fourier transforms Basic courses of electrical engineering: automation, system control, math, physics. Fundamentals of electronics: feedback amplifiers Basics of physics (with focus on mechanics and electrostatic). Basics (very few) of chemistry.
