Students know about the visualization basics of volumetric rendering and are able to analyse, segment and visualize volumetric data. They know about the different data formats used for volume rendering techniques.

The course covers following topics

    • Fundamentals of Medical Visualization: motivation, 3D Basics and volume visualization
    • Volumetric Segmentation Techniques
        • Volume preprocessing
        • Morphological operators
        • Atlas based Segmentation
    • Registration Basics: concepts, pipeline and algorithm, stack generation with medical test data, ITK algorithms.
    • Volume Rendering: design and concepts, direct volume rendering, transfer functions, surface based volume rendering
