In this course we cope with modeling and programming distributed

system applications for our domain of Geographical Information

Systems. Therefore, we cover the main aspects of well-known

distributed software applications, such as client/server and peer-to-peer software architectural model. Addressed topics include: alternative geodata persistence and homogeneity concepts; utilizing sockets for distributed systems; advanced user interface development; concurrent system design; mobile adhoc networks; connecting to standardized and /or open source software systems, legacy systems and Web-based (geodata and geoprocessing) services; installation, deployment and configuration of distributed software.
