Students know the issues, tasks and objectives of sociology. They differentiate between basic terminology, concepts and methods of sociological perspectives on healthcare. They develop a multi-perspective understanding of the social classification of discourse, concepts, interventions and methods in the field of healthcare. Students develop the ability to deal with sociological diagnoses and findings critically and from multiple perspectives. They are able to communicate and exemplify sociological constructions on relevant topics and practical issues. Students are able to substantiate health/illness as a "social construction" and paradigmatically work out the related consequences for those parties involved through relevant questions.

Students acquire knowledge in relation to the correlation between general science, nursing/ care science and the practical fields of nursing/ care. Students learn about the development of nursing science as action-based, social, mental and human science. An overview is gained of the philosophy of scientific-theoretical classification of nursing/ care theories and specific topics of nursing science. Students gain an insight into the essentials of techniques and methods of scientific work.

Students achieve fundamental knowledge of health science and know health and illness models from a social science and socio-medical perspective, as well as models of health practices. They understand the concept of risk in medicine and social sciences, and the concept of demand and necessity for care services.
