The students are familiar with need for sensor protection from outside effects and know state-of-the-art solutions.

(Miniature) sensor elements will usually not function on their own, and need protection from adverse (mechanical, chemical, optical, thermal, electrical/magnetic, ...) outside effects and an interface to the measurement instrumentation, e.g. an integrated process control system. This lecture will deal with these questions, discussing different sensor packaging strategies, (data/supply) connections and give an introduction into active sample handling (e.g. bBy microfluidics)
