Upon the successful completion of Russian 1, students will be able to:
understand and use the Russian alphabet
form and understand simple sentences
read and write simple texts
understand simple audio messages
introduce themselves
give information about their family and extracurricular activities
form basic dialogues at passport and customs control
check into a hotel
make basic telephone enquires
Not applicable
This is a beginner course for students with little or no prior Russian
language knowledge. Therefore the following language topics will be
covered:
* alphabet
* phonetics
* intonation
* genus of nouns
* noun
* adjective
* personal and possessive pronouns: nom. sg., gen. sg., acc. sg. and
prep. sg.
* verbs of the 1st and 2nd conjugation
* future tense of the auxiliary verb
* auxiliary verbs "to have" and "not to have"
Course participants will talk about the following topics:
* family and family situation
* work and leisure
In addition, students will also conduct conversations in the following
situations:
* greeting and introducing oneself/others
* passport control
* customs control
* enquiries over the telephone
* purchasing and ordering of tickets over the telephone
* hotel
* sightseeing enquiries
