Students will have a comprehensive overview in the field of medical image processing and understanding complex issues and relationships in the different sub-regions. They can interpret mathematical relationships shown in scientific publications and derive solutions to their own problems.

Further image segmentation methods and methods for determining image characteristics. Analysis of moving scenes (video). Basic algorithms for supervised as to the non-supervised classification.

In the lecture, the following topics are covered:

    • Motion Estimation & Tracking
    • Crease detection & Line filtering
    • Diffusion imaging
    • Texture Segmentation: Active contours, Mean-shift, Graph-cut
    • Classification: k-means, Expectation maximization
    • Appearance-based object recognition
