After successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • State basic concepts and procedures of descriptive and, in some cases, inferential statistics,
  • Interpret statistical information and present it in an appropriate manner,
  • Decide when to apply which statistical methods

Descriptive, univariate statistics

  • Frequency distributions, location and dispersion parameters, graphical representations, manipulation
Descriptive, bivariate statistics
  • Regression and correlation analysis, contingency analysis (incl. hypothesis testing), Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient
  • Measurement series, indices
Inductive Statistics
  • Probability theory, special discrete and continuous distributions, estimation range, confidence interval
